Tilt-up Experts

Western Concrete has installed the tallest tilt-up structure in Canada at the Chilliwack Community Centre. The details were reported on Feb. 4, 2009 inĀ Construction Canada magazine:

“In late January, the construction of the new Chilliwack Cultural Centre set a record for the tallest tilt-up concrete panels erected in Canada. For the building’s ‘flytower’ (a structure used to suspend set backdrops above the stage so they can be quickly lowered for performances), 20 panels were erected, each 25 m (82 ft) in height. Their average weight is 45,360 kg (100,000 lb).
The $22-million project will include an art gallery, a 500-seat performance theatre, a 150-seat recital hall/studio/meeting space, and classrooms. Its team comprises Kasian Architecture Interior Design and Planning Ltd. and contractor Bird Construction Co.”
